This large-scale build-to-rent residential development in Cambridge delivered 373 high-quality new homes and required an extensive roofing and waterproofing package spanning approximately 5,500 sqm.

Skyler delivered a fully integrated solution incorporating waterproofing, insulation, and a variety of roof finishes across the development.

A hot melt waterproofing system was utilised extensively, providing a robust and long-lasting solution ideally suited to large, complex roof areas. This was combined with XPS insulation to enhance thermal efficiency and a ballast finish to ensure durability and protection against environmental exposure.

In addition, selected areas were designed to deliver sustainability benefits through the installation of green roof systems. These incorporated paving walkways to facilitate safe access and maintenance, alongside man safe fall protection systems to ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements.

Monier Road, Hackney Wick

This new development in the heart of Hackney Wick consisted of 150 residential apartments and town houses, across two blocks.

The scope of works required included standing seam metal roofing with Rockwool insulation, bituminous hot melt with foam glass insulation and liquid waterproofing.

Roof finishes comprised of green and blue roof systems, paved areas, metal decking, metal parapet cappings, mansafe solutions and abseil points.

Plimsoll Building, Kings Cross

Skyler were contracted to remove and replace the existing failing waterproofing across all balconies, terraces and roof areas within this prestigious Kings Cross development.

The existing hot melt required complete removal and replacement with a flameless, cold applied liquid waterproofing system due to safety restraints and occupied residential units.

Brown roof areas were installed and rainwater management systems upgraded.

Polymex House, Peckham

This new build development, built on the former site of the R. White’s Lemonade and Edison Bell radio factory, comprised of 3,300 sqm of waterproofing works and finishes across 170 residential units and mixed retail space.

Bituminous hot melt waterproofing and XPS insulation was utilised extensively across the development with paving finishes on all roof areas, balconies and terraces.

Lombard Square, Plumstead

This large-scale redevelopment site comprises 1,913 new homes and 47,000 sqft of industrial, community, commercial and employment space with 1.8 acres of public park land.

Across 3 phases, Skyler has provided waterproofing works site-wide totalling approx. 22,000sqm.

The scale of the development required a multi-system approach comprising bituminous hot melt, built up felt and liquid waterproofing in conjunction with non-combustible insulation.

Finishes incorporate blue roof, green roof, paving and decking solutions throughout.

Rennie Estate, Bermondsey

This 12 storey residential development required a built up felt system to the main roof and terraces, with a cold applied liquid waterproofing system to the private balconies.

Green roof and ballast finishes were installed on the two main roof areas alongside a mansafe system.

Winstanley & York Road Regeneration, Battersea

This project was part of a regeneration of the former Winstanley Estate consisting of 126 residential units and commercial retail spaces.

Roof areas were completed in a bituminous hot melt system with a green roof and ballast finish. Balcony waterproofing was completed with cold applied liquid and finished with porcelain tiles on a non-combustable pedestal system.

Green roof and ballast was installed on the main roof areas alongside paved access walkways.

Aspyre, Chelmer Waterside

Phase two of this new build development consisted of three main roof areas totalling approximately 4,000 sqm.

A Three Layered Felt system with tapered insulation & Hot Melt waterproofing with paving to over 2,000 sqm was used.

Chobham Manor

Chobham Manor is a major development set within picturesque park areas and adjacent to the Olympic Velodrome.

The project which consists of four phases, provides spacious and comfortable living. The setting provides a number of green areas which affords a sense of space and tranquillity.

The location setting allows easy access into the heart of London, with a time of 8 minutes via train from Stratford Station to Liverpool Street Station; for its residents, it provides all requirements.

For Skyler Contracting, it has been a project since 2017 and from phase 2 onwards, Skyler have provided the Cold Applied Waterproofing Systems throughout, along with all associated finishes including Green and Brown Roof, Man-Safe Systems as well as Paving finishes.

Skyler prides itself in being able to offer these services and to this scale; some 12,000sqm of waterproofing and finishes have already been completed and guaranteed.

A close working relationship with the exemplary site team has made the project really flourish.

Master Gunners

The development for L&Q at Master Gunners Phase 2 is set off of the main road and sheltered by a green belt of mature trees.

Its design comprises of a number of Mews style houses and south facing apartments.

Varying in design and materials, it provides aesthetically pleasing details combined with resident benefits such as well spaced Parallel streets and in-curtilage parking.

Skyler Contracting undertook the roofing package of around 2,000 sqm and comprising of:

Single Ply Roofing System incl Tapered Insulation, Man-Safe Systems, Cold Applied Waterproofing to Walkways and Balconies.

Also, all Pitched Roofing to the development was undertaken by Skyler Contracting.

This project allowed Skyler to showcase its capabilities as a multi-disciplined contractor.
