System Type: Bituminous Vapour Barrier

Central Criminal Courts

A comprehensive roof refurbishment project was successfully delivered at the Central Criminal Court in London, encompassing approximately 1,700 sqm of critical roof area within one of the UK’s most high-profile and operationally sensitive judicial buildings.

The existing asphalt roofing system, which had reached the end of its serviceable life, was fully removed and replaced with a high-performance tapered warm roof solution. This modern system was specifically designed to significantly enhance drainage efficiency, eliminating standing water risks, while also delivering substantial improvements in thermal performance.

To provide long-term assurance and added value, the works were completed with a comprehensive 20-year warranty.

Given the building’s importance and continuous use, the project was carefully planned and executed to minimise disruption, ensuring seamless coordination with on-site operations and strict adherence to health, safety, and security protocols.

Lords Cricket Ground

Skyler was appointed by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to deliver a comprehensive roofing refurbishment programme across multiple buildings within the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground estate.

With several roof areas reaching the end of their operational lifespan, the project required a full strip-out of the existing systems and the installation of high-performance replacement solutions.

Skyler implemented a built up felt and tapered insulation scheme designed to improve drainage, enhance thermal efficiency, and extend long-term durability.

This programme not only addressed critical maintenance requirements but also delivered a future-proofed roofing solution aligned with the client’s performance and sustainability objectives.

Works were completed ensuring minimal disruption within a live, world-class sporting venue.

Polymex House, Peckham

This new-build development, constructed on the former site of the historic R. White’s Lemonade and Edison Bell factory, delivered a mixed-use scheme comprising 170 residential units and ground-floor retail space. The project included approximately 3,300 sqm of waterproofing works and associated roof finishes.

Skyler delivered a comprehensive roofing and waterproofing package, with bituminous hot melt systems and XPS insulation utilised extensively across the development. This combination provided a durable, high-performance solution offering excellent thermal efficiency and long-term waterproofing integrity.

Blue roof zones were integrated with green roof systems across the development to combine enhanced drainage control and ecological benefits.

Paved finishes were installed across selected roof areas, balconies, and terraces, creating functional and aesthetically consistent external spaces while ensuring protection of the underlying systems.

Rennie Estate, Bermondsey

This 12-storey residential development required a carefully engineered, multi-system waterproofing solution designed to deliver long-term performance across a range of roof and balcony areas.

Skyler installed a built-up felt roofing system providing a robust solution well suited to high-exposure zones where durability, reliability, and long-term weather resistance were critical.

The two principal roof areas were finished with a combination of green roof and ballast. These solutions contribute to sustainable drainage performance and improved thermal regulation, whilst also supporting biodiversity.

Private balconies were completed using a cold-applied liquid waterproofing system, offering a seamless and highly adaptable solution ideal for tight access conditions and intricate interfaces.

A fully integrated man safe system was also installed across key roof zones, ensuring safe and compliant access for ongoing maintenance.

Good Luck Hope, London

This new build scheme located directly on the Thames was a multi-phased project for Skyler, who provided over 5,000sqm of roofing and waterproofing systems.

The full array provided were: Hot Melt, XPS insulation, Single Ply, Three Layered Felt, Green Roofs, Cappings, Paving, Cold Applied Waterproofing, Fall Arrest.

Dockley Road, Bermondsey

This scheme in the heart of Bermondsey offered accommodation and retail units.

The roofing and waterproofing comprised of over 4,000sqm of hot melt including complex paving finishes. This was the main part of the project for Skyler.

Separate systems used on the project for various areas throughout the scheme were: the 500sqm of three layer felt system with PIR Insulation and green roof.

London South Bank University

The university required a full roofing upgrade to replace an outdated system that no longer met performance or thermal efficiency standards. Skyler was appointed to deliver a comprehensive solution designed to enhance durability, energy efficiency, and long-term asset value.

Our team successfully removed over 4,500 sqm of the existing roof. The new installation incorporated a high-performance Hot Melt Waterproofing system combined with XPS insulation.

To further optimise water management and sustainability, a bespoke Blue Roof attenuation system was integrated, effectively controlling rainwater runoff and supporting drainage efficiency.

In addition, approximately 900 sqm of Three-Layer Felt roofing with PIR insulation was installed, ensuring consistent performance across varied roof areas.

The project was completed with high-quality ballast and paving finishes.

Joseph Lancaster Nursery

Skyler provided approximately 1,100 sqm of roofing systems for a new build development for Southwark Council.

These comprised of a Three Layered Felt System with PIR Insulation and Green Roof installation.

Haggerston School, Hackney

Skyler acted as principal contractor on this refurbishment for The London Borough of Hackney.

The requirement was for the full strip up and complete renewal of the existing roofing system.

The overall project spanned over 2,000sqm and consisted of a Three Layer Felt system with tapered insulation.

Aspyre, Chelmer Waterside

Phase two of this new build development consisted of three main roof areas totalling approximately 4,000 sqm.

A Three Layered Felt system with tapered insulation & Hot Melt waterproofing with paving to over 2,000 sqm was used.
