Meridian High School

Skyler Contracting were tasked as Principal Contractor for the refurbishment to a number of roof areas at Meridian High School.

The existing roof areas had passed their serviceable life and were in need for thermal upgrades alongside a new waterproofing system.

In addition, all soffit, fascia and rainwater goods would also be upgraded to powder coated metal by Skyler Contracting.

Skyler Contracting worked diligently throughout the project, which consisted of over 3,000 sqm and delivered the trust all the requirements the project needed.

Arisdale Avenue

St Modwen Homes development in South Ockenden spans over a 10 acre site giving a wide range of 1-4 bedroom homes.

Set adjacent to a new public park, it provides open and well-lit pedestrian areas. An easy commute to Central London within 30 minutes provides, its residents ease and convenience.

Skyler Contracting undertook all of the flat roofing installs to blocks A-C providing a total of 1,500sqm of fully insulated felt systems.

Alongside the Roofing System, Skyler installed all of the Perimeter Cappings, Paving, Ballast and Man-Safe Systems to each block.

An excellent working relationship with St Modwen Homes on site, enabled Skyler to progress through these works in good time.

Boyn Valley Road

This new build development from One Housing Group and completed in 2020, consists of one and two bedroom apartments.

Positioned only a few hundred yards from Maidenhead’ mainline train station and allowing for easy commute to and from London.

Skyler Contracting, undertook the roofing install incl the PV Panel System. A fully tapered Insulated Felt Roofing System throughout was carried out totalling over 3,000sqm.

Skyler included a Fall Arrest System to all main roof areas alongside all of the bespoke perimeter metal cappings.

Harris Academy

Skyler Contracting were chosen as Principal Contractor for the roof refurbishment at Harris Academy in Bermondsey.

The main roof areas were in an extremely poor state and had a number of attempts to stop the leaks over a number of years but to no avail.

Skyler Contracting assembled a full scaffold that totalled twelve storeys to gain independent access to the roof areas.

Works consisted of complete removal of the existing Mastic Asphalt which had failed in many places. Underneath of the Asphalt was a degraded screed that was also removed. This fell outside the original specification and was an addition.

Combining this addition, whilst working in a live school with exams underway, made this an extremely sensitive project. Constant communication with the school hierarchy and detailed schedules as to when each element of works was taking place, became a critical factor in delivering this project to the trust in the defined timeframe.

The project area in total was 500sqm.

Maiden Lane

Skyler Contracting were appointed to undertake the removal of the existing roof coverings, roof-lights and all associated items for the client; Camden Council.

The re-roofing to all areas spanned almost 4,000 sqm and required extremely close management to each element as the units were tenant occupied.

The roofing works comprised of stripping the existing roof, mechanically scabbling the surface, then installing the bituminous system including insulation.

Skyler delivered the project on budget and within the time frame given.

Croydon Island

Croydon Island is a residential building which stands over 61 metres with over 20 floors of living accommodation.

With easy access to the mainline station and local amenities. Croydon Island stands boldly in the heart of Croydon.

Skyler Contracting’ works, included the flat roofing system installs. A Felt Roofing System including Tapered Insulation was installed to the relevant flat roofs, Cold Applied Liquid Waterproofing to all of the balcony areas including the podium.

By forming a close working relationship with the building owners/client; it made the project progress in accordance with the timeframe originally discussed prior to commencement.

In total, 3,000 sqm of Roofing and Waterproofing systems were installed by Skyler Contracting.

Master Gunners

The development for L&Q at Master Gunners Phase 2 is set off of the main road and sheltered by a green belt of mature trees.

Its design comprises of a number of Mews style houses and south facing apartments.

Varying in design and materials, it provides aesthetically pleasing details combined with resident benefits such as well spaced Parallel streets and in-curtilage parking.

Skyler Contracting undertook the roofing package of around 2,000 sqm and comprising of:

Single Ply Roofing System incl Tapered Insulation, Man-Safe Systems, Cold Applied Waterproofing to Walkways and Balconies.

Also, all Pitched Roofing to the development was undertaken by Skyler Contracting.

This project allowed Skyler to showcase its capabilities as a multi-disciplined contractor.

Station View

The development consists of 177 one, two and three bedroom apartments plus eight commercial premises.

Set next to the main train station in Guildford, the location of Station View offers all the advantages of modern urban living and its fantastic transport links put central London within quick and easy reach.

For Skyler, this project comprised of a fully Insulated Felt Roofing System throughout and covering over 3,000sqm.

All main roof areas including terraces and balconies were finished by Skyler with a high grade decking system.

A complex sequence of works provided challenges that were overcome with excellent teamwork and site management.
